breathtaking dimensionality and spectral coherency."

AAA-Audio and
Tetra Speakers in the 2006 CES News

The 2006 CES: A Final Wrap (by Wes Phillips)
"I did see some extremely promising gear, such as
Arcam's $1500 Solo,
Amphion's $1350/pair Ion,
Dissun's Original electronics,
Zu's $2900/pair Druid Mk.4, and Anthony Gallo's
$2995/pair Reference 3.1, so I'm hopeful that they are just the tip of the iceberg."
Dussun Original (by Wes Phillips/Jon Iverson)
Tetra 506 (by Wes Phillips/Jon Iverson)

Show Report - CES 2006 (by Dave and Carol Clark)
"AAA Audio XLH Reference 1812 Loudspeakers ($50,000 pair),
XLH SL-11XS balanced dual mono preamplifier ($5000) XLH M-2000 self-analyzing
balanced mono amplifiers 600 watts at 8 ohms ($25,000 pair), XLH custom designed
interconnects and speaker cables, Original Leonardo CD-A9.3 CD player balanced
dual 24 bits/192 kHz ($3000). While one would expect these speakers to sound
...well like they look, truth is they sounded rather nice and not like they
looked at all! No hint of a giant-metal-horn-staring-you-down thing in the
least. We will have a review of this system soon..."
"An Original CD-2008 MK II
HDCD/CD player, Dussun V8i integrated amplifier, Tetra 306 loudspeakers—MSRP is
$8500 for KILLER system."
CES and T.H.E. SHOW 2006 (by Francisco Duran)
"In the AAA Audio room
their XLH Reference 1812 Loudspeakers (6) were proudly displayed. Not only that
they were making some serious music. You can't miss these speakers. They are
big, bold beautiful horns that were sounding sweet, delicate, dynamic and you
name it! These speakers were hooked up to their LLH amp and preamplifier along
with the beautiful Leonardo CD player which we have in for review now along with
several other CD players in their line up. Talk about generous, these guys have
that quality in spades. A pair of their 1812s are also said to be on their way
to a lucky PFO reviewer soon."

Vegas - AAA Audio and Tetra (by Josh Ray)
"AAA
Audio, importers of Chinese brands XLH, Original and Dussun, paired with
Tetra for a killer demo."

Vegas 2006 (by Gerard Rejskind)
"Take this XLH speaker from
China. Weird? We’d guess the HAF (Husband Acceptance Factor, never mind the WAF)
to be at Antarctic levels. The sound? Amazingly good, the sort of sound that
makes the speaker seem to disappear (yes, we know, we know!). By the way, the CD
player, also from China, was called Leonardo."

2006
CES/T.H.E Show (by Dave Thomas)
"The extremely pleasant Ping Gong of AAA Audio is
importing more new lines of high-end electronics from companies like Original,
Xindak, and Dussun. They had a very nice sounding demo using the Original CD2008
CD player ($1,598), Dussun V8i integrated amp ($2,998), and Tetra 306
loudspeakers ($4,900/pr). These pyramid shaped speakers contain a 1” tweeter and
6” midrange/woofer and sit on 3” high stands. The components were connected to a
Xindak XF 2000 power filter. The sound was very musical and engaging. This is a
very nice system that won’t break the bank or take up too much space in your
living room."

The CES 2006 Jimmy Awards (by Jimmy Saxon)
"The Tetra 306 loudspeaker
($9750/pair) has a weird shape. It’s a three-sided pyramid only 22" tall. Yet,
combined with Dussan Original electronics (love that CD player), it had no
trouble floating the image of a concert grand piano at the proper height and
width right in front of Otto and me. With the volume set to simulate a "live"
piano, there was no sense of strain. This was the first time I’d heard Tetra
loudspeakers, and I now understand why they’re so popular with pop recording
dudes. These pointy little critters are wonderful."

EAST vs. WEST AT CES 2006 (by Martin G. DeWulf)
"But
not until this year, 2006, did the domestic high-end industry have anything real
to fear in terms of Chinese imports. This, I believe, was the year that the
Chinese "got it" at the perfectionist level of design, build quality and sound
for electronics and loudspeakers. The appeal of a Chinese product is no longer
the sole allure of it being cheaper. At the show, a breakthrough took place
regarding quality of construction and quality of sound. At this show, equipment
from the Far East no longer took a back seat to the Italians in the "Isn't that
gorgeous" department. Nor, did the Chinese necessarily come in a distant second
sonically to domestic manufacturers of electronics like ARC and Krell. One of
the finest power amps I heard at the show was a 600 wpc mono, mega amp weighing
175 lbs. per side from XLH."

CES 2006 Report (by Jonathan Valin)
"These remarkable-looking speakers from China
combine a huge horn tweeter (working from 1.8kHz up) with high-quality
treated-paper midrange and woofer drivers. The sound they produced was very
live, open, and transparent."
